To direct the Comptroller General of the United States to study the feasibility of a program to recruit individuals to serve for one year on active duty in the Armed Forces.
Summary
This bill directs the Comptroller General to study whether the military can implement a program allowing individuals to serve for just one year on active duty. The study must be completed within one year of enactment and submitted to Congress. The study must evaluate which military occupational specialties could accommodate one-year service, the training requirements, and implementation costs. The study must also examine how similar one-year programs work in other countries and what barriers exist to implementing such a program in the U.S. Armed Forces.
