To provide for continued operation of the Federal Aviation Administration in the event of a lapse in appropriations.
To provide for continued operation of the Federal Aviation Administration in the event of a lapse in appropriations.
Summary
This bill would ensure the Federal Aviation Administration can continue operating if a lapse in appropriations occurs, such as during a government shutdown. In the event of such a lapse, the bill automatically appropriates whatever funds are necessary to keep the FAA functioning. The FAA would be funded under this provision for whichever is shorter: 30 days or the duration of the lapse in appropriations. This would allow the FAA to maintain operations and aviation safety functions during periods when Congress has not enacted appropriations legislation.
