Stand Strong for Medicare Act of 2025
To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide coverage for certain fall prevention items under the Medicare program.
Summary
This bill amends Medicare to cover certain fall prevention items, including grab bars, non-slip mats, shower chairs, and bed rails, similar to how Medicare currently covers other durable medical equipment. Coverage would be available when these items are prescribed by a physician or qualified practitioner. The bill also specifies that Medicare payments for fall prevention items cannot be reduced through budget sequestration or automatic spending cuts. The changes would take effect 60 days after the bill is signed into law.
