To amend the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act to raise public awareness for skilled trade programs, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill would amend the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act to require states to conduct public awareness campaigns about career and technical education programs, particularly those preparing students for skilled trades and other high-skill, in-demand occupations. The campaigns would use various media including social media and other forms of media to reach eligible youth. The bill also requires local workforce areas to provide labor market information and career services, including career counseling and career exploration, focused on high-wage and in-demand industry sectors and occupations. These changes aim to raise awareness about career and technical education and skilled trade opportunities.
