Next Generation of Farmers Act of 2025
To amend the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act to reduce the eligibility requirement for direct farm real estate loans, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill reduces the experience requirement for farmers and ranchers to qualify for direct farm real estate loans through the U.S. Department of Agriculture from three years to one year of substantially participating in farm or ranch management and business operations. Applicants may also qualify with other acceptable education or experience as determined by the Secretary of Agriculture. The bill allows the Secretary to waive the one-year requirement down to six months for eligible applicants. These changes aim to make federal farm loans more accessible to new and beginning farmers and ranchers entering agricultural production.
