Alaska Native Settlement Trust Eligibility Act
Summary
This bill amends the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act to exclude certain Settlement Trust distributions from affecting eligibility for means-tested benefit programs. For a five-year period following enactment, distributions or benefits from a Settlement Trust provided to Alaska Natives or descendants who are aged, blind, or disabled would not count as resources when determining whether they qualify for needs-based assistance programs. The change applies specifically to beneficiaries defined as aged, blind, or disabled under the Social Security Act.
