To amend the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985 to provide for discretionary spending limits for each of fiscal years 2026 through 2029, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985 to establish discretionary spending limits for the federal government for fiscal years 2026 through 2029. The spending limits set specific caps on new budget authority for each fiscal year, starting at approximately $1.62 trillion in fiscal year 2026 and increasing to approximately $1.67 trillion by fiscal year 2029. These limits modify the existing discretionary spending cap structure established by the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023. The bill provides specific numerical caps that would constrain discretionary federal spending for the four-year period.
