Railroad Yardmaster Protection Act of 2025
To amend title 49, United States Code, to provide for limitations on duty hours for yardmaster employees, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends federal railroad labor regulations to extend duty hour limitations to yardmaster employees, a category not previously covered by these restrictions. The bill defines yardmaster employees as individuals responsible for supervising and coordinating the control of trains and engines within a rail yard. By amending section 21103 of title 49, United States Code, the bill brings yardmaster employees under the same federal duty hour restrictions that currently apply to train employees. The change ensures consistent fatigue and safety regulations across railroad operations by subjecting yardmasters to the same work hour limitations as other railroad personnel.
