HR 4068 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Streamlining NEPA for Coal Act
To direct the Secretary of the Interior to identify existing and potential categorical exclusions related to the production and export of coal.
Summary
The Streamlining NEPA for Coal Act directs the Secretary of the Interior to identify existing and potential categorical exclusions under the National Environmental Policy Act that could facilitate coal production and export. Within 30 days of enactment, the Secretary must report these identified categorical exclusions to Congress. Categorical exclusions are categories of actions that typically do not require environmental impact assessments or environmental impact statements under NEPA. The bill indicates that if other federal agencies adopt these identified categorical exclusions, it could advance coal production and export activities.
