HR 3822 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
To amend title 23 and title 49, United States Code, to prohibit funds from certain programs to be used to fund streetcars, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill would prohibit the use of federal transportation funds for streetcar projects across four major grant programs. Specifically, it would bar funding from the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program, the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program, the Urbanized Area Formula Grants, and the Fixed Guideway Capital Investment Grants from being used for streetcar procurement, operation, or maintenance. The amendments would apply to all states and regions receiving these federal transportation funds.
