HR 3611 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Veterans Skilled Trades Transition Act
To direct the Secretary of Defense to submit to Congress a report on transitioning military acquired credentials to the civilian workforce.
Summary
This bill requires the Secretary of Defense to submit a report to Congress within 180 days assessing how effectively military service members' professional credentials transfer to civilian employment. The report should build on previous data from 2018 and include an assessment of how many veterans successfully transfer their military credentials to civilian jobs, which certifications are most commonly used for civilian employment, and what barriers prevent veterans from converting military skills to state certifications. The Secretary of Defense must consult with the Veterans Affairs Secretary and Labor Secretary when preparing the report. The bill focuses on professional credentials obtained through military programs, such as airplane mechanic certifications.
