HR 2984 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
To amend title 31, United States Code, to authorize transportation of officers and employees of Federal agencies returning from space, and for other purposes.
Summary
The ASTRO Act (Astronaut Safe Temporary Ride Options Act) authorizes federal agencies to provide transportation for federal officers and employees returning from space when transportation is necessary for medical research, monitoring, diagnosis, treatment, or other official duties approved by the NASA Administrator, prior to those individuals receiving medical clearance to operate a motor vehicle. The bill amends federal transportation rules to add this specific authorized use of government transportation. The NASA Administrator is required to submit annual reports to Congress detailing each instance of transportation provided under this authorization, including the costs, names of individuals transported, and descriptions of the transportation. No additional appropriations are authorized to carry out this Act.
