HR 2877 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Continental Divide National Scenic Trail Completion Act
To require the Secretary of Agriculture and the Secretary of the Interior to prioritize the completion of the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill directs the Secretaries of Agriculture and Interior to complete the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail as a continuous route within 10 years. The bill requires the agencies to establish a joint Trail completion team within one year to coordinate completion efforts and develop a comprehensive plan for the Trail. The comprehensive plan must be completed within three years and will identify gaps in the Trail, opportunities for easements from willing landowners, and development plans with cost estimates. The agencies must consult with federal, state, tribal, and local governments, landowners, and other interested parties throughout the process. The bill also encourages partnerships with volunteer and nonprofit organizations to help complete and manage the Trail.
