HR 2579 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Reduce Duplication and Improve Access to Work Act
To amend part A of title IV of the Social Security Act to allow States to transfer a limited amount of funds provided under the program of block grants to States for temporary assistance for needy families, for use under title I of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
Summary
This bill allows states to transfer a portion of their Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) block grant funds to workforce development programs under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. States choosing to make such transfers must submit a combined state plan to the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Labor. No more than 15 percent of transferred funds may be reserved for statewide workforce investment activities. The amendments become effective October 1, 2026. This provision aims to give states more flexibility in using federal assistance funds to support job training and workforce development.
