Summary

This bill provides advance appropriations to ensure the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) can continue operating during a lapse in federal appropriations. The bill automatically makes necessary funds available to carry out the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 for up to 90 days following the start of any appropriations lapse occurring after September 30, 2024. The appropriated funds would be held in reserve and used only as needed to maintain program operations during the lapse period. The funds remain available until fully expended, ensuring that SNAP benefits can continue to be distributed to eligible recipients even during gaps in regular appropriations.
