HR 1809 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Great Lakes Fishery Research Reauthorization Act
H. R. 1809 To reauthorize funding to monitor, assess, and research the Great Lakes Basin.
Summary
This bill reauthorizes federal funding for monitoring, assessing, and researching the Great Lakes Basin through 2030, extending the authorization deadline that was previously set to expire in 2025. The bill amends existing law from the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2020 to extend the sunset date of the funding authorization from 2025 to 2030. This reauthorization maintains federal support for scientific research and monitoring programs focused on the Great Lakes fishery and ecosystem. The bill does not establish new programs or change the scope of existing research and monitoring activities, but simply extends the timeline for the authorization of funds. No specific funding amounts are specified in the bill; it extends authorization for the programs to continue receiving appropriated funds through 2030.
