2027 SESSION INTRODUCED 26100002D HOUSE BILL NO. 1274 Offered January 14, 2026 A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding sections numbered 15.2-1508.5 and 15.2-1605.3 , relating to localities; constitutional officers; expenses related to presidential visits. ————— Patron—Shin ————— Referred to Committee on Counties, Cities and Towns ————— Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: 1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding sections numbered 15.2-1508.5 and 15.2-1605.3 as follows: § 15.2-1508.5 . Expenses of localities related to presidential visits; publishing unreimbursed expenses ; budget . A. E ach l ocality shall determine all expenses of the locality related to the provision of security for visits to the locality by the President of the United States . A locality that incurs such expenses shall seek reimbursement from the appropriate agency of the federal government within 30 days of incurring the expense s and shall concurrently publish a list of such expenses on its official website , if one exists . A locality shall reg ularly update such list to indicate whether the expenses have been reimbursed. B. E ach locality that anticipates incurring expenses in the upcoming fiscal year related to the provision of security for visits to the locality by the President of the United States shall include the total anticipated expense s in its budget for such fiscal year. § 15.2-1605.3 . Expenses of constitutional officers related to presidential visits; publishing unreimbursed expenses ; budget . A. E ach constitutional officer shall determine all expenses of hi s office related to the provision of security for visits to the locality by the President of the United States. A n office of a constitutional officer that incurs such expenses shall seek reimbursement from the appropriate agency of the federal government within 30 days of incurring the expense s and shall concurrently publish a list of such expenses on its official website, if one exists. The office of a constitutional officer shall regularly update such list to indicate whether the expenses have been reimbursed. B. E ach constitutional officer that anticipates incurring expenses in the upcoming fiscal year related to the provision of security for visits to the locality by the President of the United States shall include the total anticipated expense s in the budget request to the Compensation Board for such fiscal year.
