AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to directing the division of criminal justice services to accept electronic submission of reports or other information from local law enforcement agencies

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows:

1 Section 1. Section 837-a of the executive law is amended by adding a 2 new subdivision 10 to read as follows: 3 10. Accept from local law enforcement agencies delivery by electronic 4 means of all reports or other information and data with respect to 5 crimes, which are collected by the division, including, but not limited 6 to, uniform crime reports, incident-based reports, domestic incident 7 reports and sex offender change of address information. To the extent of 8 such transmittal or transmittals, such action by a local law enforcement 9 agency shall be deemed to satisfy responsibilities otherwise imposed 10 upon such agency by law, rule or regulation. 11 § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of November next succeed- 12 ing the date on which it shall have become a law. Effective immediate- 13 ly, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation 14 necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are 15 authorized to be made and completed on or before such effective date.
