Summary
This amendment to HB 1067 creates a temporary petition filing process for the 2026 Rocky Mount municipal election, requiring candidates seeking nomination by petition to file with the county board of elections by July 6, 2026 at noon, following the requirements of North Carolina General Statute Article 11, Chapter 163. A different process (defined in Section 1 of the original bill) takes effect on January 1, 2027, and will apply to elections held in 2028 and thereafter. The remainder of the bill becomes effective when enacted and applies to petitions filed on or after that date.
