WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate Dominican and Dominican American Mother's Day, observed annually on the last Sunday in May, and in 2026, to be observed on May 31st; and
WHEREAS, Dominican Mother's Day is a cherished cultural tradition in the Dominican Republic and throughout the diaspora, honoring mothers, grandmothers, and maternal figures whose guidance, sacrifice, and devotion shape generations and strengthen the social fabric of their communities; and
WHEREAS, The Dominican and Dominican-American community represents a vibrant and integral part of the State of New York, particularly within New York City, contributing richly to the cultural, economic, and civic life of our State; and
WHEREAS, Dominican and Dominican-American mothers have played a vital role in nurturing families, preserving cultural heritage, and instilling values of perseverance, faith, and unity while often serving as pillars of strength within their households and communities; and
WHEREAS, This observance provides an opportunity to reflect upon and celebrate the immeasurable contributions of these women whose daily acts of love, resilience, and leadership uplift not only their families but also society as a whole; and
