Assembly Resolution No. 1226

HONORING Christian Jerome upon the occasion of his designation as Athlete of the Year

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor those distinguished athletes who, through their dedication, talent, and sportsmanship, have brought pride and distinction to their communities and to the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Christian Jerome upon the occasion of his designation as Athlete of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Christian Jerome, a senior at Hoosic Valley High School, has emerged as a rising star in swimming, earning widespread recognition for his outstanding achievements and exemplary athleticism; and

WHEREAS, Demonstrating extraordinary skill and determination, Christian Jerome repeated as the New York State Champion in the 100-yard butterfly, achieving All-American status with a personal-best time of 47.85 seconds; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his championship performance, he secured a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle at the state competition and captured titles in both the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle at the Section 2 Division 2 Championships; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the 2025-2026 season, Christian Jerome established himself as the fastest swimmer in Section 2 across four events-the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, and 100 butterfly, while also ranking among the top three in three additional events; and

WHEREAS, His remarkable accomplishments earned him a leading position on the Times Union's 2025-2026 Boys' Swimming and Diving All-Star Team, further solidifying his status as one of the region's premier athletes; and

WHEREAS, Christian Jerome's commitment to excellence extends beyond individual achievement, as he has consistently demonstrated leadership, perseverance, and dedication to his team and sport; and

WHEREAS, A future student-athlete at Cleveland State University, he represents the promise of continued success and the enduring spirit of competitive athletics; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commend individuals of outstanding character and achievement who exemplify the values of hard work, discipline, and sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Christian Jerome upon the occasion of his designation as Athlete of the Year; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Christian Jerome.
