Summary

New York S 8733 modifies residency requirements for correction officers in Montgomery County by allowing them to reside outside the county while still holding the office. Correction officers in Montgomery County can now be residents of Montgomery County, any adjoining county in New York, or alternatively any of nine specified non-adjacent counties: Albany, Delaware, Greene, Hamilton, Madison, Oneida, Rensselaer, Warren, or Washington. This exemption modifies the state law requirement that government officials live in the political subdivision where they work. The change takes effect immediately.
