Summary
This bill amends New York education law to require chain and community pharmacies to register with the state. A chain pharmacy is defined as a publicly traded company with at least 20 licensed pharmacies in New York under the same ownership, while a community pharmacy is a privately held company with fewer than 20 pharmacies under the same ownership. Certain types of pharmacies are excluded from registration requirements, including government-owned, hospital-owned, supermarket-based, and mail-order pharmacies. Pharmacies seeking designation must submit an application with a $500 fee, and designations must be renewed every three years. The law takes effect 90 days after enactment.
