Summary
Provides that a veterinarian, owner, caretaker, or custodian of an animal who knows or suspects that an animal has a disease or condition declared reportable by the state board of animal health (board) must report the existence of the disease or condition to the state veterinarian or local health officer not later than 24 hours after discovering the occurrence or suspected occurrence of the disease or condition. (Currently, they have 48 hours to report a disease.) Provides that a laboratory or animal health professional shall report: (1) the type of test performed; and (2) positive diagnoses for certain diseases; not later than 24 hours after a test renders a positive diagnosis. Authorizes the board to adopt rules it considers necessary to carry out the reporting of diseases and conditions. Provides that the board may issue notice by electronic mail.
