Summary

This bill modifies the process for filling vacancies on the Long Island Rail Road Commuter's Council. Under current law, vacancies are filled from a list of three names submitted by each county executive of Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, or Brooklyn counties. The bill changes this requirement so that vacancies must be filled from a list of only one name submitted by each county executive. This reduces the number of candidate options available to the governor when appointing members to fill vacancies on the 13-member council.
