Summary
Michigan SB 50 amends the sentencing guidelines in Michigan's Criminal Code to update references related to violations of the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Act (MIOSHA). The bill updates the sentencing guidelines table in Chapter XVII to reflect sections of the occupational safety and health law that are being amended by companion Senate Bill 49. The sentencing guidelines table includes classifications and penalties for MIOSHA violations that cause employee death, employment of children during certain hours, and employment of children in child sexually abusive activity. The bill takes effect only if Senate Bill 49 is also enacted into law. The specific amendments update the statutory references to align with changes to the occupational safety and health law structure.
