Summary
This bill amends New York's Public Officers Law to relax residency requirements for assistant county attorneys in Rockland County. Currently, public officers must generally be residents of the political subdivision where they work. Under this bill, a non-resident can hold the position of assistant county attorney in Rockland County if they reside in Rockland County, any county in the Ninth Judicial District, New York City, or an adjoining county. This change applies only to Rockland County; assistant county attorneys in other counties must still meet existing residency requirements. The bill takes effect immediately.
