Summary

This bill makes individualized readiness plans (IRPs) optional rather than required for Colorado preschool and kindergarten students who demonstrate proficiency on specified assessment domains and reading assessments, unless parents request a plan. The bill requires local education providers to give parents written notice that includes their child's assessment results, an explanation of why an IRP is not required for their child (if applicable), and information about their right to request a plan. The bill also requires the Colorado Department of Education to report school readiness data on a statewide basis and to disaggregate the data by specific student characteristics in its annual report to the education committees.
