Summary
Alaska HB 249 simplifies the process for transferring vehicle ownership to an insurance company when the insurer pays damages. The bill eliminates the requirement that supporting documents be notarized when an owner transfers their title or interest to an insurance company. Instead, supporting documents including power of attorney, duplicate title, and odometer disclosure forms may be signed electronically and printed. This change streamlines the administrative process for settling total loss or significant damage claims.
