Summary
This bill would amend New York's insurance law to regulate payment amounts between insurance companies and health care providers in cases where there are ownership relationships. The bill requires an insurance company that owns a health care provider to pay any unaffiliated health care provider at least the same amount it pays its own health care provider for comparable services. The bill also prohibits an insurance company that is owned by a health care provider from paying an unaffiliated health care provider less than the amount it pays an affiliated health care provider for comparable services. These provisions aim to prevent disparities in payment amounts based on ownership relationships. The act would take effect 60 days after becoming law.
