STATEMENT TO
[Second Reprint] ASSEMBLY, No. 5154
with Senate Floor Amendments (Proposed by Senator STACK)
ADOPTED: JUNE 18, 2026
These Senate floor amendments remove the provision of the bill which would have required the Administrative Director of the Courts to submit a report after two years concerning the number of defendants found to be persistent offenders, the crimes for which they were charged and convicted, the demographics of the defendants, and any other findings and recommendations concerning the sentencing of persistent offenders. These amendments make the bill identical to Senate Bill No. 4417 (1R).
