Summary
This bill creates a new municipal group insurance technical assistance program run by the workers' compensation board to help individuals and municipalities access insurance coverage for volunteer firefighters. The program will provide support through multiple channels including a toll-free hotline, website, and in-person assistance. It will handle complaints from individuals covered by the insurance, help municipalities obtain and manage insurance contracts, and assist individuals with appeals to the workers' compensation board. The program will be operated by a nonprofit organization selected through a competitive proposal process and must be referenced in all notices from the workers' compensation board.
