Summary

This bill amends state penal law to add ammunition to the list of prohibited items related to criminal convictions. Under current law, it is a Class D felony for a person prohibited from possessing firearms to purchase or acquire them; this bill extends that prohibition to include ammunition. The law would make it a Class D felony for a prohibited person to purchase or acquire ammunition, or for anyone to purchase or dispose of ammunition to a person they know is prohibited from possessing it. The prohibition applies to individuals ineligible due to prior conviction or other legal disability, or who are subject to outstanding arrest warrants for felonies or serious offenses. The bill takes effect immediately.
