Summary

This bill requires New York to distribute state funds annually to municipalities for programs that help keep youth out of detention and residential care settings. Eligible municipalities will receive funding based on their most recent approved program plan and do not need to submit a new plan each year to receive their annual allocation. At least half of the funds each municipality receives must be given to community-based organizations working with at-risk youth or youth involved in the juvenile justice system. The bill ensures these annual allocations are guaranteed regardless of whether a municipality submits an updated plan for the current year.
