Summary
This bill establishes requirements for the residency period that funeral director applicants must complete under the direct supervision of a certified preceptor. The bill defines "preceptor" as a licensed funeral director or undertaker and embalmer employed at a funeral firm who is certified by the department to supervise residents. During the one-year residency, the registered resident must work full-time and complete specific hands-on requirements including embalming at least twelve human remains, directing or assisting with at least twenty-five funerals, and performing various other duties, all under the preceptor's direct supervision. The bill specifies that the first five embalmings, first five funeral arrangements, and first five services must occur in the physical presence of the preceptor, and establishes detailed milestones for completion by the sixth month.
