Summary

This bill limits the maximum number of foster care cases that a foster care worker may supervise at any one time to sixteen cases, to the extent possible within available funding. The bill directs the New York State Office of Children and Family Services to establish regulations setting caseload standards for foster care workers. These regulations must include guidance on case assignment that takes into account the worker's current caseload and the complexity of individual cases. Local social services districts are permitted to establish lower caseload standards than the state maximum if they choose to do so. The act takes effect sixty days after it becomes law.
