The bill adds state health department recommendations as grounds for immunization coverage, in addition to existing recommendations from the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. When establishing immunization regulations, the health commissioner's recommendations must utilize generally accepted medical standards and take into consideration guidance from major medical professional organizations including the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and American College of Physicians.
