Summary

This joint resolution disapproves a Department of Energy rule setting energy conservation standards for consumer gas-fired instantaneous water heaters, published in December 2024. If passed, the rule would be nullified and have no force or effect. The resolution uses Congress's authority under the Congressional Review Act, a process that allows lawmakers to reject regulations within a specified timeframe. Senators introduced the measure in January 2025 and it was brought to the calendar through a petition to discharge it from committee in February 2025.
