Wildfire Resilience Through Grazing Research Act
To amend the Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade Act of 1990 to support research and development of ungulate grazing land management techniques for purposes of wildfire mitigation, fuel reduction, and post-fire recovery.
Summary
This bill authorizes research and extension grants at land-grant universities to study ungulate grazing land management techniques for wildfire mitigation and fuel reduction. The research will examine how managed grazing by hooved animals can reduce wildfire risk and aid post-fire recovery on public and private lands while protecting soil health and water quality. Research topics include rotational grazing, managed stocking rates, fencing techniques, and wild ungulate population management. The bill also funds educational outreach to landowners, land managers, and livestock owners about these grazing management techniques and their wildfire mitigation benefits.
