IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES

August 6, 2026

Ms. Cortez Masto (for herself and Mrs. Britt) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Armed Services

A BILL

To improve space control and space superiority readiness.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the “Space Superiority Readiness Act of 2026”.

SEC. 2. SPACE CONTROL AND SPACE SUPERIORITY READINESS.

(a) Findings.—Congress finds the following:

(1) The space domain is critical to deterrence and warfighting.

(2) The United States must maintain the ability to achieve space control in a conflict with the People’s Republic of China.

(b) Wargaming, Modeling, and Simulation.—The Secretary of Defense shall expand the capacity of the Space Force to conduct wargaming, modeling, and simulation of peer conflict scenarios in the space domain.

(c) Training.—The Secretary of Defense shall develop training programs for space operators focused on tactics, techniques, and procedures necessary for space control operations.

(d) Report.—

(1) In general.—Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to Congress a report on—

(A) Chinese commercial space capabilities; and

(B) the potential military applications of such capabilities.

(2) Form.—The report required by paragraph (1) shall be submitted in unclassified form. <all>
