A BILL
To require the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to award a competitive grant for the Antibiotic Resistance Leadership Group for the purpose of facilitating a clinical research network on antibiotic resistance, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the “Stop Superbugs Act”.
SEC. 2. FUNDING FOR ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE CLINICAL RESEARCH.
(a) In General.—The Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases shall award a competitive grant for the Antibiotic Resistance Leadership Group for the purpose of facilitating a clinical research network on antibiotic resistance, which shall include focuses on—
(1) supporting rapid recruitment of clinical trial participants;
(2) conducting clinical trial recruitment outreach in community settings;
(3) supporting the pairing of diagnostic and pharmaceutical innovations during clinical trials; and
(4) developing patient-reported outcomes in clinical studies.
(b) Authorization of Appropriations.—There is authorized to be appropriated to the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases such sums as may be necessary to carry out subsection (a). <all>
