To establish a Federal grant program to combat the smuggling and trafficking of children and young women.
Summary
This bill establishes a federal grant program to combat the smuggling and trafficking of children and young women ages 12 to 24. The Attorney General and Secretary of Health and Human Services, in consultation with the Secretary of State, would award grants to states, Indian tribes, local government units, and nonprofit organizations to prevent smuggling across U.S. borders and provide support to victims. The program would also serve children and young women already smuggled into the United States or at risk of sex trafficking or severe trafficking. The bill authorizes $50 million in federal appropriations for these grants.
