To amend the Electronic Fund Transfer Act to adjust certain thresholds for inflation.
Summary
This bill amends the Electronic Fund Transfer Act to require automatic inflation adjustments to thresholds for reasonable fees on payment card transactions. Beginning July 1, 2026, and on January 15 of each year thereafter, the threshold amount shall be adjusted by the annual percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for October. Before the first adjustment, the Federal Reserve Board shall adjust the threshold by the cumulative percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index from October 2009 to October 2025. The bill allows these fee thresholds to automatically keep pace with inflation without requiring separate legislative action each year.
