Multinational Species Conservation Funds Semipostal Stamp Reauthorization Act of 2012

To reauthorize the Multinational Species Conservation Funds Semipostal Stamp, and for other purposes.

Introduced May 21, 2012

Latest action (Sep 14, 2012) Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs referred to Subcommittee on Federal Financial Management, Government Information, Federal Services, and International Security.

Summary

This bill reauthorizes the Multinational Species Conservation Funds Semipostal Stamp program, extending it from 2 years to 6 years. The bill requires the Postal Service to make available stamps depicting five endangered species: African or Asian elephants, rhinoceros, tigers, marine turtles, and great apes. A semipostal stamp sells for more than regular postage, with the additional revenue designated for multinational species conservation efforts. The extended authorization allows the program to continue supporting wildlife conservation through stamp sales.
