To direct the Secretary of Agriculture to reimburse State agencies for costs incurred in carrying out the supplemental nutrition assistance program during a lapse in appropriations.
Summary
The bill directs the Secretary of Agriculture to reimburse states for costs they incur operating the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) during lapses in federal appropriations. States would be eligible for reimbursement when they continue to administer SNAP benefits in accordance with federal law even when normal funding is temporarily unavailable. This measure aims to protect state funding and ensure SNAP operations continue uninterrupted when Congress fails to appropriate funds before fiscal deadlines.
