Extending Anti-Terrorism Protections Act of 2025
To provide the Secretary of Homeland Security with the authority to temporarily extend the duration of protections provided under the SAFETY Act, and for other purposes.
Summary
The bill grants the Secretary of Homeland Security authority to temporarily extend liability protections for anti-terrorism technologies under the Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies (SAFETY) Act through fiscal year 2029. The temporary extensions apply to technologies when renewal applications are submitted at least 165 days before the current protections expire and the application is complete upon submission. The bill clarifies that a temporary extension of protections does not preclude the Secretary from ultimately approving or denying the renewal application.
