Kay Hagan Tick Reauthorization Act
S. 2398 To reauthorize the Kay Hagan Tick Act, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill reauthorizes the Kay Hagan Tick Act, which funds federal programs to address tick-borne diseases. It extends the authorization for the national strategy and regional centers of excellence in vector-borne disease from fiscal years 2021-2025 through fiscal years 2026-2030. It also extends the authorization for enhanced support programs that assist state health departments in addressing vector-borne diseases through the same period. Minor changes streamline governance structures by removing specific references to working groups and adjusting oversight language. The bill allows these public health initiatives focused on preventing and controlling tick-borne illnesses to continue for another five years.
