S 1896 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
A bill to modify the provision of law on expedited review of export licenses for exports of advanced technologies to Australia, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
To modify the provision of law on expedited review of export licenses for exports of advanced technologies to Australia, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
Summary
The bill would modify Section 1344 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024, which establishes expedited review procedures for export licenses of advanced technologies to Australia, the United Kingdom, and Canada. The modification would expand the definition of "export" under that section to include not only direct transfers of defense articles and services, but also reexports, retransfers, third-party transfers, temporary imports, and brokering activities. This clarification would ensure that the expedited review process applies to all types of defense technology transfers to those three countries, not just initial exports.
