S 1881 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Public Service Worker Protection Act
To amend the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 to expand coverage under such Act to public employees.
Summary
The bill would amend the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 to extend workplace safety and health standards coverage to public sector employees, including federal, state, and local government workers. Currently, OSHA requirements do not apply to government workplaces. The bill would expand the definition of "employer" under the Act to include the federal government, states, and political subdivisions of states. The expansion would take effect 90 days after enactment, except that states and political subdivisions without an approved occupational safety state plan would have 36 months to comply.
