S 1597 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
To amend title 5, United States Code, to provide that agencies may not deduct labor organization dues from the pay of Federal employees, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends federal law to prohibit Federal agencies and the Postal Service from deducting labor organization dues, fees, or political contributions from employee paychecks. The bill modifies existing law that currently allows agencies to make such deductions from federal employee pay. Under this bill, Federal agencies and the Postal Service would no longer be permitted to automatically deduct union dues or related fees from employee compensation.
